EVAP -HVAC & Heater Core

USF has built a business around providing value-based engineering solutions to our customers. No product highlights this fact more than the EVAP & Heater Core Seals that USF designs.

EVAP and Heater Core Seals provide the interface between the HVAC housing and the EVAP and Heater Cores. Traditionally, HVAC system suppliers have utilized foam around the cores to provide the interface. USF introduced an injection molded seal in an effort to enhance airflow efficiency and curb bacterial growth attributed to moisture retention of existing sealing devices.

USF’s two-shot injection-molded design offers the following advantages over the traditional adhesive-backed foam.

  • Significant HVAC system performance enhancement as the air leakage between the cores and the housing is greatly reduced. Our design incorporates both a primary and secondary sealing surface.

  • The two materials utilized in our two-shot process do not retain water.  Condensation is accounted for in USF's design process. This virtually eliminates the moisture element that has led to bacterial formation on the foam formally used around the cores.

  • The USF design allows our customers to positively place the seal to the core. This resulted in an approximate 65% reduction in the labor required to apply the seal.

  • USF’s customers are assured of the location of our seal by the designed-in interface. This assures our customers a consistent seal that stays in position over time due to the "positive" attachment. This eliminates the creep associated with traditional sealing devices.

  • The USF design compensates for tolerance fluctuation between the HVAC housing and the cores. This provides our customers a better performing systems over a wider tolerance range.
